I happened to look through our bedroom window this morning at just the right time to see a pattern of leaf shadows on the tree trunk outside. I have never noticed this pattern before. I have lived here for over twenty years.

The first time I sat on this sandbank on the corner of the island we had paddled in our inflatable canoe to where the sandbank meets the shore. As we paddled, fish were jumping all around. The wind and tide were pushing waves around the island from both sides, so that they met right where we sat. A manta ray moved away over the sand in front of us as we walked.
The photo was taken on a calm day with no waves. But the sandbank was still a beautiful place.

Everything has a story – the old plastic chair remembers many church and birthday gatherings, the wall used to be blue. I’m trying to remember where the wooden door comes from… that’s it… it comes from Grandma’s place, to build a cubby house which does not yet exist.
